JASON KENT WEST                                                                      

In early 2004 Jason was invited by the UK Sibelius management to be part of their training team.  After months of coaching and preparation by the Sibelius staff, Jason wrote a new training curriculum for their courses held in London.  The courses Jason taught covered Sibelius topics for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced users.  His classes were made up of school teachers, church musicians, ministers, conductors and post-college musicians.  Jason now brings his expertise back to the US.

Originally from the United States, Jason received a bachelor’s degree in music specializing in organ and voice from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.  For 10 years he held part and full-time church positions on both East and West coasts.  He made his solo concert debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC at the age of 26 and played concerts throughout the US as well as in Europe.

After moving to the UK in 1992 he worked professionally as a computer trainer and consultant for law firms, banks and government agencies.  He taught secretaries to managers to senior partners in classrooms and one-to-one settings.  Jason recently returned to the US in late 2005 and now lives in the Washington DC area.

Sibelius gives Jason the chance to combine three of his loves.....music, software and training.  Jason customizes his courses according to the needs of the user both in content and in application.  While not everyone is as comfortable using a computer, his teaching methods allow the user to relax and focus on learning the software without feeling inadequate with their computer skills.

Besides training private clients, Jason has taught Sibelius in the Alexandria and Arlington Virginia School Districts.

In addition to training Sibelius and other software, Jason keeps active as an organist, choirmaster, accompanist, singer and vocal coach in the Washington DC area.  Presently he is Interim Organist/Director at St David's Episcopal Church in Ashburn VA. Jason is also an active published composer and arranger.
