Jason Kent West
Originally from North Dakota, Jason received a bachelor’s degree in music specializing in organ and voice from Westminster Choir College (of Ryder University) in Princeton, New Jersey. For 10 years, he held part-time and full-time church positions both on the East and West coasts in addition to playing concerts throughout the US as well as Europe.
In 1992 after moving to the UK, he changed careers and worked as a computer trainer and consultant for law firms, banks and government agencies. He has taught secretaries to managers to senior partners, in classroom and one-to-one settings.
While living in the England, Jason became part of the Sibelius training team. After extensive training from the Sibelius staff, Jason became the lead trainer for their courses held in central London. The courses Jason designed covered Sibelius topics for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced users.
After 13 years, Jason returned to the Washington DC area in late 2005 and redesigned his Sibelius courses to give personal attention and meet the individual needs of the American users. While not everyone is comfortable using Sibelius, his teaching methods allow the student to relax and focus on learning the software no matter what the level of their computer skills.
Jason is the Director of Music Ministries as organist/choir director at St John's Episcopal, Norwood Parish, in Chevy Chase MD where he uses Sibelius to create anthem and organ arrangements. His compositions have been performed by several churches in the US including Washington National Cathedral. During COVID, he began creating hymn graphics and has amassed a collection of over 500 titles which are used by several churches for their bulletins. In addition to his church position, he teaches Sibelius to music students at Washington Adventist University, Takoma Park, MD.
As an accomplished musician and an expert computer trainer, Jason's combined experience will provide you with the confidence you are looking for in a Sibelius trainer.
